Augmented Reality

I can only see the northern lights through my phone. I believe that they are there. My phone’s eyes add to my own. Is this augmented reality?

No, my phone’s eyes do not add to mine, they replace them. Rather than altering reality they become a new reality more real to me than the one I see.

I did not think any of this when I stared in wonder at the northern lights through my phone camera, until I looked up and saw a black and empty sky.
